MINIMIZING SEA MISFORTUNES and MISERIES

The philippene maritime industry has been disorganized due to inefficiency. this is one solid truth that the siad sector cannot veil.its a good move that two lawmakers -- agusan del sur representatives rodolfo ompong plasa and ang waray rep, florencio bem noel --have endorsed the mandatury use of the global positioning system (gps) in all ships and boats playing the sea lanes of the country.it would readily help ensure the safety of seagoing passenger.
the two lawmakres claimed that maritime authurities do not seem to mind whether a boat or ships sails without the needed navigational aguipment.
other lawmakers may readily join the call out but no matter how hard we try,the solution readily seeks genuikne reform that should be undertaken now in the maritime sector.tragically, hundreds of lives have been lost sea in the fast few years and month.
the country has three types of marine communication services--public coast stations private coast stations and government coast stations that are small, old and guite incovenient for users and could not meet the increasing demand for users and could not meet the increasing demand for coordinated marine communication.
on the other hand, gps is not that expensive when compared to the pr0tection of lives of millions of passenger and the loss uf valuable properties.
the gps allows access to fast and accurate position course and speed information, saving navigators time and fuel through more efficient traffic routing;provides precise navigation to boaters and improves precision and efficiency of buoy positioning, sweeping and dredging operation.
if gps can boost the maritime industry and no problem would be seen along the course of its technology application, then the maritime industry authority and the philippini coast guard(pcg)are bound to employ the gadget to minimise sea misfurtunes and miseries.
but then,as we know it,political will is the icebreaker to any change.
